FinX vs Quantus: an honest comparison (September 2026)

Last checked 27 September 2026. We read Quantus's public pages and used its free tier. Every fact about Quantus links to its source. If something's out of date, email david@finxacademy.org and we'll fix it.

The short version

Choose Quantus if price matters most and you want to try every case free first. Choose FinX if you want a check that fails a typed-in number, the way a modeling test would, and to pay once with a full refund within 30 days.

Where Quantus is better

  • A lower price: $35 for lifetime access, or $14 a month.[2]
  • A free tier that opens every case we tried, with no card.[2][6]
  • Cases built on real companies, such as Apple, Amazon, Nucor, Oracle, Microsoft–Activision, Salesforce–Slack and PetSmart.[5]
  • A spreadsheet with a full toolbar (formats, borders, filters, What-If Analysis) that feels close to Excel.[6]
  • Proof you can see: "4.3 / 5.0 based on feedback from 370 learner responses" and named testimonials on its homepage, and a success rate on each exercise. FinX has no reviews yet.[1][6]

What FinX doesn't have

  • No video lessons.
  • No timed LBO test yet.
  • A spreadsheet in your browser, not desktop Excel.
  • No reviews yet.

Where FinX is better

Of the seven practice and course sites we tested in September 2026, one other checks formulas cell by cell.

  • A typed-in number fails. In our test, Quantus accepted a whole P&L with a hard-coded revenue figure and said "Your formulas check out". FinX checks the formula and the cells it uses, so typing the answer in fails, as it would in a modeling test.[7]
  • The same answer gets the same mark. In our test, a Quantus drill marked a rounded answer wrong, then right on a second check with nothing changed.[8]
  • Checking isn't an answer key. In our test, one check of a part-filled Quantus sheet showed the expected value in every empty cell. A FinX check marks an empty cell as empty, without its expected value.[6]
  • Timed practice. FinX has a 10-minute skills check and a 2-hour 3-statement and DCF test. Quantus's exercises have no timer.[6]
  • A refund promise. FinX refunds its one-time purchase in full within 30 days, even after you start. Quantus decides case by case and can refuse once the product has been used.[4]

Where neither helps

  • Neither has a timed LBO test yet. Quantus's LBO cases have time estimates but no clock, and FinX's timed LBO tests are in progress.[9]

Choose Quantus if…

  • Price matters most: $35 lifetime for browser modeling cases, many of them built on real companies.[2][5]
  • You want to open every case free before you pay, and a check on values alone is enough for you.[2][6]

Choose FinX if…

  • You want a check that fails a typed-in number and shows you which cell is wrong.
  • You want timed practice as well as exercises.
  • You want to pay once, with a full refund within 30 days if it doesn't help.
